FLINT TWP. — Flint Township residents will be without curbside recycling for the next several weeks as Emterra Environmental USA works through COVID-19 issues and worker shortages.
Last Thursday, Emterra announced that it will be suspending curbside recycling in Flint Township until June 10 as the company continues to deal with a shortage of employees because of positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracing. Curbside recycling pick-up has been limited, delayed or suspended altogether for many residences across the township since late April.
To help alleviate the burden on residents, Emterra will have a recycling truck at the Flint Township offices on May 20, 27 and June 3. Residents can drop off their recycling materials from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on those designated days. Emterra will also have recycling dumpsters available for residents at its office on 1606 Webster Road (Dort Highway entrance) in Flint during business hours.
Flint Township officials said that Emterra will be working to provide a refund to the township for the weeks residents are without curbside recycling pick-up. Trash and yard waste, however, will continue to be picked up every week.
