Errant driver turns self in

On Tuesday, May 16, at approximately 1:11 a.m., the Flint Township Police Department, responded to 4044 Corunna Rd. (Device Doctors) for a commercial alarm. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the south wall of the business had extensive damage as it was immediately apparent that a vehicle had driven into the business. The vehicle was gone upon arrival.

Upon reviewing surveillance video from inside of the business, the vehicle is believed to be a tan older model 4 door Ford Explorer. The driver of the vehicle appeared to be a thin male in his 30s. He was wearing eyeglasses at the time and has a goatee. The driver did not exit the vehicle and no items were taken from the business.

The owner of the business believes the damage caused from this incident is in excess of $10,000.

The suspect in this case later turned himself in but detectives are still investigating at this time and it is unknown if the driver was under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics. The driver will be lodged at the Genesee County Jail and the case will be presented to the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office for review of charges.

Anyone that may have information on the suspect or the crime, is urged to contact Detective Weber with the Flint Township Police Department at (810) 600-3250, or Crime Stoppers: 1-800-422-JAIL.
