FLUSHING — Residents at the Heartland-Fostrian Court in Flushing received a drive-by tribute from family members and friends as part of a special car parade organized by the facility. About 35 to 40 vehicles, including several classic cars and a Flushing Fire Department fire truck, circled the nursing home on 540 Sunnyside Drive last Tuesday. Fostrian Court staff brought residents outside on the sidewalk so that they could watch the procession pass by, while family members waved from their cars and greeted their loved ones from a safe distance.
Heartland-Fostrian Court has been hosting family car parades since June, allowing residents to see their families at least once a month. The facility wishes to thank everyone who participated in the final parade of the year, along with family members who were able to bring joy to the lives of residents during the COVID-19 pandemic. — B.G.
