Family Fun Day to benefit children in Genesee County

FLINT TWP.
— “I’m pretty sure ours is the only beach party going in November,” laughs Old Newsboys of Flint’s Executive Director, Chris Hamilton discussing the upcoming event.

On Nov. 6 from 12-5 p.m., the Old Newsboys will partner with several area businesses to host their second annual Tropical Smoothie Café Santa Beach Party fundraiser. Hosted in the LinCor Plaza parking lot at 2103 Linden Road in Flint and held in heated tents, the event will feature fun for the kids, pictures with Santa, smoothie sampling, limbo contest, a live remote with B-95, and more. Event sponsors include the

Tropical Smoothie Café, B-95 radio station, Financial Plus Credit Union, Funtastic Inflatables, and the Swartz Creek Chamber of Commerce.

For more than 85 years, the organization has brightened the Christmas of more than 760,000 children across Genesee County. In 2009 alone, the Old Newsboys put gifts under the tree for over 5,800 children, and anticipate serving even more this year. A $20 contribution will provide one child with a holiday box containing a sweatsuit, underclothes, gloves and a hat, dental hygiene products, and an age-appropriate toy or game. For more information about the Tropical Smoothie Café Santa Beach Party or to sponsor a child, contact the Old Newsboys at 810-744-1840. — G.G.
