The free, family event highlights the three upcoming FIM holiday programs, Flint Youth Theatre’s The
and Holiday Pops. The Sneak Peek event features souvenir photos with little mice and soldiers in the giant chair from the Nutcracker
set (a $5 charge may be applied toward the purchase of Nutcracker
or Holiday Pops tickets); holiday favorites performed by the FSO Brass; carols sung by the Flint Festival Youth Chorus; dramatic readings from Flint Youth Theatre’s The Homecoming; Nutcracker
character face painting; holiday favorites performed by soprano Pia Broden Williams, tenor Glen Holcomb and pianist Ina Yoon; preschool make-and-take project; creative movement sessions; musical instrument playground; free refreshments; viewing of Nutcracker
dance rehearsals; a 105.5 FM remote broadcast with Stephanie K; and drawings for free tickets and other prizes.
The Nutcracker-Holiday Pops Sneak Peek also is a warm-up for the FIM’s three, great December programs.
Based on the novel by Earl Hammer, Jr., FYT’s The Homecoming
runs 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3-4, 10-12 and 17-18 with matinee perfomances at 2:30
p.m. Dec. 11 and 18. The show takes place at the Elgood Theater, 1220 E. Kearsley St. The production is adapted by Christopher Sergel, directed by Walter Hill and sponsored by the Charles Stewart Harding Foundation with support from Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, Ruth Mott Foundation MCACA and NEA.
An annual favorite, Nutcracker,
returns to The Whiting stage 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Dec. 4 and 3 p.m. Dec. 5. Nutcracker
is sponsored by William Hentgen. The final production for December is Holiday Pops. Another annual, holiday favorite, Holiday Pops is 7 p.m. Dec. 18, and will be broadcast live on ABC12. The final date for Holiday Pops is 3 p.m. Dec. 19. All Holiday Pops performances are held at The Whiting, 1241 E. Kearsley St.
Tickets for all performances will be on sale that afternoon, giving Sneak Peek participants the opportunity to purchase the best seats available. Tickets also can be purchased by calling the Ticket Center at The Whiting at 888- 8CENTER or online at www.thewhiting.com.
