Financial Plus Credit Union announces 2017 “You are the Future” scholarship winners



FLINT — Financial Plus is pleased to announce the two winners of their 2nd annual “You are the Future” Scholarship; Aaron Hillborn and Emily Harper. Each winner will receive $1,000 to use in the 2017-2018 academic school year. The winners can use their scholarship toward tuition, fees, books, and room and board.

“We are proud to award two hardworking individuals, Aaron and Emily, with our annual scholarship. This money will not only help advance their educational goals but will secure their future. We would like to thank everyone who submitted an application, and wish you all the best in your bright future.” said Olga Long, Senior Vice President of Financial Plus Credit Union.

Aaron is attending the University of Advancing Technology. He currently works as a pediatric critical care EMT. His passion is network security and advancing technology and hopes to become a network security engineer. Emily will be attending Northern Michigan University in the fall. She is currently a senior at Kearsley High School and is taking medical classes at Mott. Her dream is to become a trauma surgeon in Flint. She wants to give back to the community she grew up in.

The winners were selected based on academics and community involvement. Designated Scholarship Judges at Financial Plus Credit Union reviewed all scholarship entries and awarded the scholarship recipients based on attaining all eligibility requirements and contents of essay.
