FLINT TWP. –Fueled by coffee, hot chocolate, holiday music and good cheer, 26 active firefighters assisted by police officers, rang the bell and manned the Salvation Army Kettle from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in front of the Walmart store on Corunna Road, according to a report from Fire Chief Thomas Stadler. Enduring blustery conditions all day, the volunteer group took in about 446 toys and articles of clothing valued at about $6,690 and collected about $2600 In cash for a grand total of about $9,368.
