Fire destroys dwelling, leaves family homeless

DAVISON TWP. — A family is reaching out to the community after losing everything in a fire that destroyed their home and killed two pets Sunday morning.

The Davison-Richfield Area Fire Department was called to Wren Drive, off S. Irish Road between Lippincott and Lapeer Road, at 7:57 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 18 for a house fire.

Chief Brian Flewelling said when he arrived on the scene, just ahead of his fire crews, both floors of the house were already engulfed in fire and flames were coming through the roof.

He said a husband, wife and two sons were home at the time and escaped the blaze, but two family dogs were lost in the fire.

Assisting the Davison firefighters were the Burton, Atlas Township, Elba Township and Forest Township fire departments.

Flewelling said two Burton firefighters received minor injuries in the fire but were back on the job Tuesday.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, said Flewelling.
