Fire leaves family homeless, claims lives of two dogs

DAVISON TWP. — A family is homeless after a devastating house fire Sept. 4 which destroyed their home and left two family dogs dead.

Chief Brian Flewelling of the Davison-Richfield Area Fire Department said his firefighters responded to a fully involved house fire on Sept. 4 at about 10 p.m. in the 11000 block of Davison Road.

He said the first firefighter was on the scene within three minutes after the call went out, but the home was already completely engulfed in flames.

No one was home at the time of the fire, said Flewelling, but two dogs who were in the house at the time perished.

He said several departments assisted Davison, including Burton, Atlas Township, Elba Township, Lapeer and Forest Township. It took about 5 ½ hours to extinguish the blaze.

No injuries were reported by any of the firefighters.
