This past year has been one of unprecedented challenges. With your help, we have answered the increased bi-weekly food needs of some 140 people to our current weekly 500-600 less fortunate residents of the Grand Blanc School District. Additionally, we broke all records with our Christmas Program.
St. Christopher’s Episcopal church in Grand Blanc has been very generous by allowing us to use 5-6,000 square-feet of their building for an office, food distribution center and storage space for the past three years. However, due to changes in their building usage needs, we must find another facility by August.
We would like, with your help, to find a permanent home for FISH. Ideally, we would like to find a facility that has at least 10,000+ sf so we can house all of our programs in one building and have the security of knowing we won’t have to change locations.
Those programs include a Clothes Closet where we provide free children’s clothing, birth to grade 12, hundreds of gently used/new winter coats, a Back to School Backpack program that provides back packs filled with grade appropriate supplies, two outfits, a $30 gift certificate towards and new pair of shoes, new undies and socks.
With more space, we can also provide more services to help our struggling neighbors. And yes, as an all-volunteer 501 (c3) non-profit community organization, we are looking for the donation of a facility and financial backing to help offset the associated costs of rent, utilities etc.
