FLINT TWP.
— Looking to get into shape? Look no further than UltiFit, LLC, G-4164 Miller Rd.

The fitness facility, which opened a month ago, offers more than just a place to get fit. Owner Rick Romeo, who was been in the health care field for 22 years and opened the first Powerhouse Gym in Genesee County in 1991, said he recognized a definite need for a fitness facility in Flint.

“Flint is the fifth unhealthiest city in the country, and Flint needs this,” he said. “When people say ‘Why Flint?’, I say ‘Why not?”

To help individuals reach their fitness goals, UltiFit boasts full locker rooms, showers and a full, free weight section. And by next week, Romeo said the facility will be open 24 hours a day. For the fall, UltiFit has a full schedule of classes in kickboxing, sports conditioning and a boot camp, designed to get people up and into shape. Romeo said the boot camp class will be a group class, focusing on body weight exercises and be more calisthenics-based. “Not so much of a focus on the machines,” he said.
