FJGA Mancour Cup goes to Goodrich’s Barth

FLINT – Trent Barth set a blistering pace in the two-day Flint Jr. Golf Association Mancour Cup race at the Flint Elks Club Monday and Tuesday, besting the field by 12 strokes.

In Monday’s first round, Barth continued to dominate, carding a two-under-par 70 to lead the field by six strokes. Nine players qualified for the second round including Flushing grad Kerrigan Parks with a 77 and Grand Blanc grad Cammi Lucia with a 79 from the girls’ division. Parks and Lucia competed in the 2016 Championship Match last season with Lucia edging out Parks in Sudden Death to win the 18-hole girls championship.

Round two qualifiers and their scores were: Barth 70, Dylan Conte 76, Jackson Forguth 77, Kerrigan Parks 77, Logan Cooper 78, Parker Mitchell 78, Trevor Bailey 79, Nick Bruett 79, Cammi Lucia 79.

In Tuesday’s second round, Barth carded a four-under 68 to clinch the coveted Cup. His two-day total of 138 left the rest of the field 12 shots back. With the win, Barth earned an exemption into the Randy Wise AJGA Tournament held at Warwick Hills Country Club, August 21-24. Two-time state junior amateur champion Parks finish second with 77-73- 150.
