Flint AHEPA scholarships announced

 

 

GENESEE COUNTY — The Flint AHEPA Daughters Scholarship Foundation has announced the recipients for this year’s annual scholarships.

Lula Karakitsos, of Flushing, Michigan, has graduated from Flushing High School this year with high honors. She will be attending Michigan State University this fall, pursuing a career as a Physician’s Assistant. Lula has been awarded the “Eli Chinonis Memorial Scholarship” in the amount of $2,500.00.

Nicholas Pappadakis, of Grand Blanc, has graduated from Grand Blanc High School this year with honors. He will be attending Delta College this fall, studying Criminal Justice. Nicholas has been awarded the “Harry and Catherine Yeotis Memorial Scholarship” in the amount of $2,000.00.

The Flint AHEPA Daughters Scholarship Foundation fund was established in 1987 to encourage and assist eligible students graduating from a Flint Area high school with plans to enter a university, college, or trade school.

Funds have been raised from many activities and sources over the many years. To date the organization has awarded $87,000.00 to 89 recipients. The awards will be presented to the recipients during a ceremony at the church in the near future. — G.G.
