Flint church clears more than $9 million in medical debt for 7,294 families

FLINT — Central Church of the Nazarene in Flint is clearing more than $9 million in medical debt in Genesee, Shiawassee, Lapeer, Huron, Livingston, Sanilac, Tuscola, Macomb, and Wayne Counties.

7,294 families are affected by this debt forgiveness program, with an average of $1,243.59 cleared per family. The church started with an initial gift, that was then augmented by giving from the congregation. The debt is being cleared with assistance from RIP Medical Debt.

“We believe one of the best ways to proclaim the message of Jesus in the midst of a pandemic is by helping to eliminate the crushing load of medical debt for so many individuals,” said Rob Prince, Lead Pastor.

Central Church is planning to celebrate this good news Nov. 22.
