FLINT – Three Flushing golfers and one Goodrich player reached the match-play finals in the season-ending Flint Junior Golf Association tournament Tuesday at Swartz Creek Golf Course.

Former Flushing High teammates Joe Montpas and Nick Winiarski finished 1-2 after two days of stroke play to grab the top two seeds in the boys’ division. Flushing junior Kerri Parks and Goodrich junior Sydni Harding took the top two spots in the girls’ division. They met Wednesday morning for the championships, after View deadlines.

The tournament started Monday, with the top eight boys and top seven girls in the championship flight of the Jack Nicklaus Group moving on to a second round of 18-hole stroke play Tuesday. The top two scores of both days combined advanced to match play.

Montpas, a Flushing senior, sizzled in stroke play, shooting par-72 both days to finish with 144. Winiarski, a 2015 Flushing graduate headed to Mott Community College, shot 76-74-150, four strokes ahead of third-place finisher Mitch Hughes of Holly. Winiarski birdied three holes from off the green on the back nine, with a chip-in on No. 10 and putts from the fringe on Nos. 11 and 17.

Parks shot 77-81-158 to easily finish first in the girls’ division. Harding shot 83-81- 164 to edge three players by one stroke for the second and final seed. Davison’s Kamryn Johnson shot 81-84-165, while sister Karsen Johnston and Grand Blanc’s Cammi Lucia shot 86-79-165.

In the girls’ first flight, Keegan Miller beat Lapeer junior Baylee Thompson, and Davison’s Evan VandePutte beat Linden’s Makenna Baldwin, both by 3-and-1 scores.

Davison teammates met for the boys’ first-flight title, after Jason Raske edged Brandon’s Bret Hobson in 19 holes, and Sean Pierson beat Linden’s Tony Mastin 2-and-1.

In the boys’ second flight, Grand Blanc’s Steven Semrau beat Lake Fenton’s JackReece Miller 3-and-1, and Powers Catholic’s Noah Reeser edged Grand Blanc’s Thomas Allen 1-up.
