Flint man, 70, dies in crash in Grand Blanc Twp.

GRAND BLANC TWP. – On Tuesday, July 28, around 11 a.m., Grand Blanc Township police and firefighters were dispatched to the 2300 block of East Hill Road in reference to a personal injury crash. When officers and emergency medical personnel arrived on scene, they found one of the drivers had been ejected from his vehicle.

Lifesaving efforts were attempted; however, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The 70-year-old Flint man was driving a 1948 Plymouth. The vehicle was not equipped with seatbelts. The other vehicle involved was a 1998 Dodge pickup truck, which was driven by a 41-year-old Grand Blanc Township man.

The preliminary investigation shows the Plymouth driver was traveling west on East Hill Road when he slowed down to make a right turn into a local business. The Dodge driver also was westbound and struck the rear of the Plymouth, causing it to spin. It appears, after the impact, the Plymouth driver’s door came open and the driver was ejected.

The crash is being investigated by the Grand Blanc Township Crash Investigation Reconstruction Team (CIRT). CIRT was assisted on scene by the Genesee County Sheriff Office.
