Flint Township approves bid for water main project

FLINT TWP. — The Flint Township Board of Trustees has awarded a bid to Fessler & Bowman Inc. to fix a water main section on Lennon Road near Dutcher Road. The bid, totaling $32,270, was made upon recommendation from the Genesee County Drain Commission Division of Water & Waste Services (GCDCWWS).

The project will address problems with a 120-foot section of the water main in front the new SERVPRO location, which is currently under construction. Work will be completed by the Genesee County Drain Commission before Servpro pours the concrete for its driveway within the next couple of months.

While the bid from Fessler & Bowman was $1,910 higher than the lowest bid from Cook Excavating, Fessler & Bowman’s bid included traffic control, whereas Cook Excavating’s bid did not.

Flint Township will be purchasing construction materials for the project from Michigan Pipe & Valve for a total materials cost of $19,162.27. — B.G.
