FLINT TWP. — As required by law, the township board passed a resolution for collection of its total authorized tax levy for December 1, 2015 including millages for operating, roads, fire, police and public safety.
Per township assessor William E. Fowler, they are:
4.6423 mills for Operating
0.5000 mills for Road Improvement
0.2500 mills for Fire Equipment
0.5000 mills for Police Officers 3.8500 mills for Public Safety
The Roads and Fire millages will expire at the end of the year if not renewed by voters in the Nov. 3 election. Voters initially passed the 10-year road millage in August 2006 and approved the Fire Equipment Millage in November 2010.
The Police Millage passed in 2007 and expires December 31, 2016. The Public Safety millage was approved by voters in the November 4, 2015 election and is effective through December 31, 2023.
The Operating millage rate was set in July 1978 and does not expire.
As of May 26, 2015, the taxable value of all properties in the township was $800,333,170, according to tax rate report filed last month with the Genesee County Board of Commissioners.
