FLINT TWP. — The Flint Township Board of Trustees approved 6-0 with a list of 2011 road projects at its March 7 meeting. Trustee Frank Kasle was not in attendance.
“We spent a lot of time looking at the roads and driving them,” Supervisor Karyn Miller said. “These are recommended by the road advisory committee.”
The list of projects are as follows: Meadowcrest — cross tube repair funded by the road commission and paving resurface funded by the township millage; Devonish/Greenstone/Post/Cabot — paving resurface funded b the township millage; Lennon (between Dye and Elms) — 500 tons of asphalt funded by the township millage; intersections (Dye and Court, and Dye and Calkins) — funded by the township millage; and crack shield (Maple/Dye/Reuben/Shirley/Bernice/B robeck) — material funded by the township millage and 50/50 funds applied to labor and equipment.
The township also will use Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for limestone in the Utley Hills area, Mark/Maria and Disch/Francisco. CDBG funds also will be used for the project on Mallory/Utley Rd., which are 2008 grant funds. For the catch basins, Curbco will repair the catch basins with leftover funds from 2011. The township also approved ditching projects on Walton, Westchester, Beveridge, Corbin and Harwine.
The cost for the Meadowcrest project is $34,712.54 with an estimation of two days to complete the work, which includes various sections of paving. For the limestone resurfacing at Disch and Francisco, the cost is $23,777.86 with an estimation of one day to complete the work. For repaving various sections of Dye Road, the cost is $27,925.03 and the estimation on days to complete the work is two.
For various sections of paving on Lennon Road between Dye Road and Elms Road, the cost is $47,652.54 with an estimation of two days to complete the work. For various sections of paving on Post between Cabot and Lennon, the cost is $24,347.54 with an estimation of two days to complete the work. For the various locations for crack shield, the cost to the township is $15,984.36 and additionally, the township will use $7,992.18 in 50/50 matching funds to complete the project, which is estimated to take four days.
For the limestone resurfacing in the Utley Hills area, the cost is $77,621.06 and the project is estimated to take two days. For the project at Mark and Maria, the cost is $22,051.86 and is estimated to take one day to complete. For the various sections of paving on Devonish and Green Stone, the cost is $40,645.04 with an estimation to take two days to complete. For 400-feet of ditching on Harwine between Augusta and Herrick, the cost is $6,375.12 with an estimation of one day to complete the work. For 1,000-feet of ditching on Corbin at Algonac, the cost is $18,544.53 with an estimation of three days to complete.
All of the costs are from the Genesee County Road Commission.
