FLINT TWP. — Flint Township Supervisor Karyn Miller is recovering at an Ohio hospital after sustaining serious injuries in a car accident last month.
During the evening of Aug. 15, Miller and her husband Jerry Preston were returning home from vacation in Ohio when they were involved in a two-car accident at the Ohio Turnpike. Miller and her husband were taken to the Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland, where they have been rehabbing from multiple injuries for the past four weeks.
Miller sustained a broken hand and ribs in the crash, as well as a crushed right ankle and a broken fibia and tibia above her left ankle. She has been placed in the hospital’s intensive care unit and has undergone multiple surgeries.
As Miller continues to recover, she has resumed her duties as township supervisor and is maintaining communication with township personnel via Zoom call. She is expected to remain hospitalized for the next few weeks.
In the meantime, Flint Township Trustee Barb Vert has been appointed as the township’s Deputy Superintendent and will be signing off on items in Miller’s absence. — B.G.
