Cheryl Spaniola, Diane Sanders and Ruthie Brabbs are happy to do their part to support American Legion Post 294 in Clayton Township during the annual poppy sales fundraiser on Friday, May 21. The poppy sale would normally take place at various high-traffic venues throughout town, but due to COVID- 19 restrictions, the trio of volunteers set up a canopy outside the post on Morrish Road, and had a drive-through distribution. All donations will be used for American Legion Post 294 programs that support veterans, the military community and their families. The red poppy is a nationally-recognized symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans since World War 1 to honor those who served and died for the country in all wars. It reminds Americans of the sacrifices made by veterans while protecting the nation’s freedoms.
