Flower power

With all of the uncertainty stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic and the requisite safety measures, the Rotary Club of Grand Blanc had considered foregoing the annual poinsettia sales this year. Instead, they pressed on, realizing the fundraiser would allow them to continue their support for community projects like FISH, literacy programs, school programs, the Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce’s Special Needs Day during the festival, and other causes. Although the proceeds were down a little bit compared to the previous 10 or so years of sales, Rotarians still raised about $2,000 selling poinsettias, wreaths, cedar rope, center pieces and porch pots from Wojo’s Greenhouse. Last week, Rotarian Kelly Crystal, right, and her daughter Darby, sorted the flowers and greenery for distribution to those who supported the club’s effort.
