FLINT TWP. — Clear skies graced the 28th annual National Night Out event at the township police department last Wednesday evening.

“This is all about trying to network with the community and the businesses, about bringing people out of their houses,’’ said Lt. Tim Jones, event organizer.

Adults could pick up neighborhood security information and decals, identification kits for their children, coffee cups, key chains and other freebies from vendors. Also about 60 free maximum security dead-bolt door locks were given to Flint Township residents, on a first-come basis.

Fun for the kiddies included face-painting, coloring books, a bounce house and a chance to explore emergency vehicles. Refreshments included free pizza and beverages. — Rhonda Sanders
