GRAND BLANC — Former Grand Blanc High School English teacher Michael V. Paris groomed one of his 16-year-old students before initiating a sexual relationship with the teen, Grand Blanc police and Genesee County prosecutors allege.
Paris, 34, now faces three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct stemming from the allegations that date back to 2014.
The suspect, a Grand Blanc Township resident, was arraigned Saturday, April 10, and released on tether and a $50,000 personal bond, court records show.
He is scheduled to appear for a probable cause conference Thursday, April 22.
School Superintendent Clarence Garner said district officials could not comment on the ongoing investigation.
Garner told the board of education Monday that Paris was not employed by the district when administrators were made aware of the allegations. Earlier reports indicate Paris submitted a letter of resignation in February.
Garner said the district sent letters to parents of high school students notifying them of the investigation.
“We want to remind our families, if you have additional information or something you feel is important for us to know, reach out to use or contact the City of Grand Blanc Police Department,” he said.
“We will work closely with the prosecutor’s office on this and whatever punishment is applicable in this situation, we will support that to the highest degree of the law.”
