DAVISON — Patrick McAvinchey, 95, passed away Dec. 4.

McAvinchey served on the Davison Board of Education from 1971-76 and was the oldest living former school board member in Davison.

He died at his residence. Burial was in the St. John Catholic Cemetery.

McAvinchey was born in Oelwein, IA on Oct. 17, 1925, son of the late Frank and Florence (Perry) McAvinchey. He married Jane Ann Jacobs and she preceded him in death. He married Anna Belle (Callis) Davis and she preceded him in death.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. He co-owned and operated Gould Engineering for 20 years.

McAvinchey was a member of the Rotary Club and many organizations at St. John Catholic Church. He served on many different boards for the county and city. He was also an Interim County Road Commissioner.

He was a longtime member of the Moon Growlers on Drummond Island. McAvinchey was also on many other volunteer organizations.

McAvinchey is survived by his children, Michael, Richard (Ellen), Donald (Berta), Robert, Mary (Jose), Alisa (Don), Frank (Sharon) and Daniel; 14 grandchildren: 9 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Susan Davis, Thomas (Paula) Davis and Catherine Amboy; sibling; brother, Thomas (Carolyn) and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by sons, Timothy and David, brother, Joseph and sister, Helen Harbin.
