DAVISON TWP. — The newest police officer in Davison Township is certainly no stranger to the community.
Blayne Fortune, 24, a 2015 graduate of Davison High School, has been hired as a full-time police officer in Davison Township.
A graduate of Central Michigan University and the police academy in Lansing, Fortune has served a year and a half with the City of Williamston Police Department.
He grew up in Davison and played football during high school.
“Frankly, I like serving the community,” he said. “The job is very interesting; you get to see something new every day and work in a different environment daily. It beats a desk job.”
Fortune said his family include a younger brother who is a sophomore at DHS, a sister who is a junior at CMU and his parents who both work for Davison Community Schools. He also mentioned his fiancé, who is finishing her master’s degree in social work.
He said he is looking forward to working in the community where he grew up.
“To work with people who have helped shape who I am today as an officer and a man,” said Fortune. The residents afforded me every opportunity to succeed – and I look forward to doing it here.”
