FLINT — Celebrate the season with this uplifting Flint Symphony Orchestra musical extravaganza of your favorite carols and holiday classics.
The Flint Symphony Orchestra and Conductor Enrique Diemecke present Holiday Pops, a display of delightful and festive musicality for all to enjoy at 7 p.m., Dec. 17 and at 3 p.m., Dec. 18 at The Whiting, 1241 E. Kearsley St. in Flint.
This year’s jubilee will be hosted by Bill Harris and ABC12’s Angie Hendershot. The first hour of the Dec. 17 performance will be broadcast live on ABC12.
Joining the FSO are:
• The Flint Festival Chorus, Bradley Bloom, director
• Flint Jubilee Chorale, Sylvia Pittman, coordinator
• Flint Festival Youth Chorus, Sylvia Pittman, director
• Vocal Soloist, Diane Alderson
• Narrator, Michael Kelly
Again this year, choir students from throughout mid-Michigan will join the Flint Festival Chorus for the performance, including representatives from: Brandon High School, Carman-Ainsworth High School, Clio High School, Davison High School, Durand High School, Flint Classical Academy, Grand Blanc High School, LakeVille High School, Linden High School and Mt. Morris High School.
Holiday Pops is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit with carols like The Polar Express Suite, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and The Best Christmas of All, as well as a traditional sing-along. The Flint Festival Chorus will sing a stirring variety of music, including the timeless favorite, Angels at the Savior’s Birth along with the Flint Jubilee Chorale and the Flint Festival Youth Chorus.
The program will be rebroadcast on ABC12 at 7 a.m. Christmas Day. It will also be shown by area PBS stations in Michigan during the holiday season.
Tickets for Holiday Pops range from $10 to $32, with a $2 senior and full-time student discount and half-price for children 18 and under. Tickets may be purchased by calling The Whiting Ticket Center at 810-237-7333 or 888-8CENTER.
