FLINT TWP. — The township board approved a lease-pull-ahead agreement that will save a bit of dough.
Three-year leases on three Chevrolet Cruzes the township contracted for with Patsy Lou Chevrolet were set to expire in about four months, said Tracey Tucker, economic enhancement director.
The lease pull-ahead allows the township to enter a new contract on the currently leased vehicles without the cost of early termination fees.
Under the original lease, the township paid $289 per month, per vehicle. Under the new lease, it will pay $350 at signing (including taxes, title and plate transfer fees) and $250 per month for a 39-month lease period with 10,000 miles per year allowed.
One of the Cruzes is used by the supervisor’s office and the other two by the building department.
The advantage of signing up for the lease-pull head is that payments will be about $30 less per month per car, Tucker said. It also provides a four-month break on costs of the original lease payments.
