Funk projected to retain township clerk’s position

FLINT TWP. — At press time, incumbent Kathy Funk (D) was projected to win a tight contest over challenger Manya Triplett (D) in the Flint Township Clerk’s race.

As of Wednesday morning, Funk led Triplett 51 percent to 49 percent, with 66 percent of precincts reporting. Funk had garnered 2,698 votes to Triplett’s 2,619 votes.

Funk, who was elected in 2016, is a 14-year employee of Flint Township and has worked for eight years in the township clerk’s office. Triplett is a Flint Township realtor and property manager. — B.G.
