FYT brings The Wizard of Oz home for the holidays




FLINT — The Wizard of Oz is the third production in FYT’s 2013-2014 Signature Series and is on stage from Dec. 6-22. Filled with wellknown songs and beloved characters, this classic musical is a special family experience for the holiday season.

The Wizard of Oz is the story of Dorothy’s journey from Kansas to Oz and back. Along with Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Woodsman and the Cowardly Lion, Dorothy travels along the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City in search of the great and powerful Oz.

The Wizard of Oz is written by L. Frank Baum with music and lyrics from the MGM motion picture score by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg. The production is directed by Rodney Creech with musical direction by Gary King and choreography by Ashleigh Aaron Tillman.

The Wizard of Oz performances are Dec. 6-7 at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 8 at 2:30 p.m., Dec. 13-14 at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 15 at 2:30 p.m., Dec. 20 at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 21 at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Dec. 22 at 2:30 p.m.

Advance tickets for The Wizard of Oz are $12 for children, $14 for teens, senior citizens and Veterans and $16 for adults and are available at Flint Youth Theatre, by calling 810-237-1530 or online at FlintYouthTheatre.org.
