FLINT — Flint Youth Theatre announces open auditions and technical interviews for Gee’s Bend, by Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder.
This play will be directed by Rodney Creech and performed on the FYT stage Feb. 15-March 3.
Students are invited to audition and interview to be a part of this play which is based on a true story about the now-famous quilters of Gee’s Bend, Alabama. Auditions are open to all students grades 7 to 12.
Auditions: Jan. 5, 2 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. (check in after 1:30 p.m.). Callbacks: Jan. 7, 6-9:30 p.m. Tech Interviews: Jan. 5, 2- 5:30 p.m. (check in after 1:30 p.m.)
The Flint Youth Theatre is located at 1220 E. Kearsley St. in Flint.
• Auditions are for students interested in being in the show. Students are asked to plan to attend the entire audition.
• Tech interviews are for students interested in working backstage.
• Students may apply for both.
• This production will require students to miss four days of school.
Rehearsals: Tuesdays through Fridays, 6:30-9:30 p.m.,; Saturdays, 2-7 p.m., beginning Jan. 15; Tech: Feb. 9, 12-8 p.m. and Feb.11-14, 6-9:30 p.m.
Flint Youth Theatre is a program of the Flint Institute of Music.
