GRAND BLANC — Calling all future brides and grooms, The Genesee County Bridal Alliance (GCBA) presents the fifth annual Wedding Marketplace from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24.
The event features a variety of wedding vendors and takes place at the Captain’s Club at Woodfield, 10200 Woodfield Drive, Grand Blanc. Admission is $5 at the door and $3 for those who pre-register at www.gcbaweddings.com or by calling (810) 836-5201.
“A bride could come in and book every vendor she needs in one spot,” said Rhonda Touchette-McKee, owner of Tasty Layers Custom Cakes and president of the GCBA. She added that brides and grooms can rest assured that “the vendors are all well-established.”
The GCBA assists local professional wedding vendors with building their businesses in addition to making it easier to find and contact professional wedding vendors for couples planning weddings.
“There was nothing in our region to help brides out,” said Touchette- McKee. Once founded she said “We knew we wanted to produce a wedding show.” The group currently has a membership of more than 40 vendors, who along with the opportunity to be a part of the Wedding Marketplace, benefit from educational enrichment activities, networking and more.
As with last year’s event, this year’s Wedding Marketplace serves the additional purpose of benefiting Wish Upon a Wedding, the world’s first nonprofit wish granting organization providing weddings and vow renewals for couples facing terminal illness and serious life-changing circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation. “It’s important for us to give back to our community as 90 percent of the vendors in the GCBA are local, small businesses and it is this community that supports our businesses,” said Jessica Brown, owner of Centennial Image and vice president of the GCBA.
The 2016 Wedding Marketplace will have a variety of vendors for engaged couples to meet and to gather information from. “It’s important to hire professional vendors and the Wedding Marketplace and the GCBA have a great variety of them,” said Brown. “Couples can also see, touch, feel samples of many different things that will help them define their style.”
This year’s Wedding Marketplace will offer two grand prizes including a $500 voucher to be used with any, or a combination of, GCBA vendors and “The Diamond Dash” with a fabulous diamond prize! For more info visit www.gcbaweddings.com.
