GDL adds library content, streaming, hoopla digital

GENESEE COUNTY — Beginning today (Nov. 1), the popular on-demand service, hoopla digital, will be available for free at Genesee District Library. Library card holders can instantly access more than 600,000 audiobooks, eBooks, comics, movies, music and TV.

“We’ve worked hard to add another digital vendor that won’t duplicate services we already provide, but rather improve our eContent offerings while providing instant access to additional titles,” said David Conklin, Director of Genesee District Library.

With hoopla there is no waiting for items and no late fees. When the item is due it simply disappears from your device.

“Genesee District Library is excited to offer hoopla,” said Darwin McGuire, Technical Services Manager. “I’ve been sampling hoopla for months, and I really like its content, especially the music.”

Genesee District Library has 19 branches in Genesee County, and the digital services are available 24/7. Library card holders who already enjoy other digital services such as Freegal, Overdrive and RB Digital Magazines can continue to do so.

The hoopla digital collection includes fan favorite movies, newly released albums, New York Times bestselling titles and exclusive STEAM educational content to enhance each user’s experience.

Content can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform. Patrons simply need to download the hoopla digital app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast or Roku.

Hoopla is available to residents of Genesee District Library’s legal service area, which is Genesee County minus the City of Flint, plus Deerfield and Tyrone Townships in Livingston County. People outside of the service area can gain access for a small fee.
