FLINT – The Genesee District Library will be one of 16 host sites to broadcast the Michigan Library Awards telecast on Facebook. The awards program will be aired on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
This annual event is the Michigan library community’s own version of the Academy Awards, the Emmys, the Grammys, and the Tonys.
The program will feature entertainment and will unveil the winners of the Rising Star, Frances H. Pletz Award for Excellence in Service to Youth, Heart of a Champion, Support Staff of the Year, Legislator of the Year, Public Librarian of the Year, Academic Librarian of the Year, School Librarian of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, the State Librarian’s Citations of Excellence and the State Librarian’s Excellence Award.
“The MLA awards honor the accomplishments, dedication and service of outstanding library staff,” said Ryan Tackabury, Digital Services Librarian for Genesee District Library. “We are really proud to host this great event.”
The virtual awards program is co-hosted by the Michigan Library Association, the Library of Michigan, the Library of Michigan Foundation, the Michigan Association for Media in Education (MAME), and the Michigan Academic Library Association (MiALA). Honorees will be recognized during this special virtual ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments, dedication and service of outstanding libraries, library staff, trustees and supporters.
