Genesee County Ambassadors host holiday toy drive

GENESEE COUNTY — The Genesee County Ambassadors are hosting a holiday toy drive for children of parents who are incarcerated in the Genesee County Jail. To participate in the drive, bring a new, unwrapped toy for children ages 12 and under to the following locations until Dec. 21: Genesee County Jail, 1002 Saginaw St. in Flint, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Walmart Supercenter in Burton, 5323 Court St. in Burton, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monetary donations can also be made by check to the Genesee County Ambassadors in care of Johnell Allen-Bey or by cash using the Cash App: $caleb0211.

“To ensure that no child is forgotten, the Genesee County Ambassadors have worked effortlessly to promote a toy drive for the children of incarcerated parents who reside in the Genesee County Jail,” said Percy Glover with the Genesee County Ambassadors. “Eradicating generational incarceration is a wholistic approach that addresses every aspect of it. The toy drive is a significant step in providing joy for our youth during the holidays, while also giving them hope as we deter them from making poor choices.”

Toys will be disbursed to the children on Dec. 23. For questions or info on how to volunteer for distributing toys, call Percy Glover at (810) 210-4041. — B.G.
