MOUNT MORRIS — The Genesee County Fair will be held on Aug. 13-19 at the fairgrounds, 6130 East Mt. Morris Rd.
The fair kicks off Aug. 13, with free elephant ears to the first 1,000 guests. At 10 a.m. there will be a baby contest and tot trot. At 2 p.m. there will be a hog calling contest. The Redneck Olympics begin at 4 p.m. with watermelon seed spitting. The Grandstand Event begins at 7:30 p.m. with the T&M Electric Monster Truck Shootout.
On Aug. 14, is Senior Citizens Day with senior citizens getting free coffee and donuts at 9 a.m, followed by the Senior Citizen Health Fair at 10 a.m. The Redneck Olympics continue at 4 p.m. with the pork rind and moon pie eating contest and again at 6 p.m. with the redneck horseshoe tournament. At 7:30 p.m. the Grandstand Event will feature Mid- States Bolts & Screws Figure 8 Derby and Burnout Contest.
On Aug. 15, is Farmers Day and will feature the Michigan Pedal Pullers Tractor Pull at 3 p.m. At 4 p.m. the Redneck Olympics continue with redneck bowling. At 5 p.m. there will a Little Caesars Pizza Eating Contest, and the Grandstand Event at 7:30 p.m will feature the Flint New Holland Combine Derby.
Aug. 16, will start with a scavenger hunt at 9 a.m. The day will continue with a food safety education workshop at 11:30 a.m. At 2 p.m. there will be a VG’s Jalapeno Pepper Eating Contest. At 4 p.m. the Redneck Olympics continue with the cow chip toss. Also at 4 p.m. there will be the National Sheep Shearing Competition. The Grandstand Event will be at 7:30 p.m. where the ELGA Credit Union will present Justin Moore.
Aug. 17, is Armed Services Day and will feature the Genesee County Young Marines Flag
Raising Ceremony at 10 a.m. At 1 p.m. there will be an Ugly Dog Contest and Dog and Owner Look Alike Contest. At 4 p.m. there will be a Toilet Paper Mummy Wrap Contest. The Grandstand Event at 7:30 will see Budweiser present Montgomery Gentry.
On Aug. 18, the Grandstand Events will be held at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and feature the Al Serra Dodge Ram Rodeo. There will also be a Hoola Hoop Contest at 5 p.m.
On Aug. 19, there will be a Marshmallow Stuffing Contest at 2 p.m. At 4 p.m. there will be a chainsaw art auction. The Grandstand Event will take place at 5 p.m. with the Randy Wise Enduro Derby and Burnout Contest.
Further, a fair fun pass can be purchased for $25 and entitles one person to grandstand admission for the entire week of the fair. A parking pass can be purchased for $20, which allows entrance of your vehicle for the entire week. A ride wristband can be purchased for $20, which allows one person unlimited Midway rides on one day of their choice on Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 10 p.m.
