GENESEE COUNTY — The Salvation Army will be accepting applications for Christmas assistance from Dec. 1-3 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. for Genesee County residents.
Due to the overwhelming response from hundreds of local families, The Salvation Army has added additional dates in December to accept applications for Christmas assistance. Genesee County residents who wish to apply for help with food and toys can do so at the listed times and dates at The Salvation Army office, 211 W. Kearsley St. in downtown Flint. No appointment is needed.
The Salvation Army’s Christmas Assistance program is intended to help those who would otherwise be unable to celebrate Christmas. To sign up, the following documents are required at the time of application:
Current ID for all adults in the household (Social Security card and Michigan driver’s license or Michigan state ID)
Proof of dependents in the home (Social Security card – Birth certificate will be accepted for newborns only)
Current bills (Bills must contain the name and address of the individual applying for assistance)
Proof of income (Pay stubs, child support statement, Social Security, SSI, SSDI, DHS statement, unemployment workman’s comp., etc).
