Tell voters in less than 200 words what you consider to be the most important issues facing your community and how you will address them if elected:
In my over 28 years in law enforcement, I have never seen such a breakdown in the public’s perception of our men and women in law enforcement.
This can be attributed to several factors, but it can be changed by cooperative and responsible efforts of the law enforcement community and its leaders, the media, the public and our legislators. Communication is critical to understand each other and our differences. Together we can tackle the problems of our consistently high crime rate, emergency management issues, and do so with transparency and fiscal responsibility, making professional policing our priority.
Citizens share strong concerns about the crime rate in this county. I believe that we need more officers and deputies on the streets to answer the calls – for services related to our quality of life and to encourage economic growth/security. There is also the duty to operate an efficient, and safe county jail. I would explore using professional grant writers to seek grants related to traffic programs and other enforcement activities. Finally, it has been my vision to create a physical/mentor-ship “Boot Camp Program” for at risk youth to give them a chance to change their very futures.
