Genesee County U15 Girls soccer team captures State Cup

GENESEE COUNTY — The Genesee 07 Girls Black team took home its first-ever Michigan State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) State Cup on Oct. 17, defeating Traverse City North Storm, 2-0. Genesee 07 Girls Black, which fielded several players from Grand Blanc, Flushing and Goodrich, qualified for the State Cup as a wildcard team and advanced through the quarterfinals and semifinals to reach the finals in Brighton, MI. In doing so, they became the first U15 Michigan State Premier Soccer League team from Genesee County to reach the State Cup. Genesee 07 Girls Black have also qualified for the 2022 US Youth Soccer Midwest Presidents Cup, which will be held from June 16-20 in St. Louis, MO. The team, coached by Rick Miracle and managed by Amy Converse, plays and practices at the Rick Hartker Soccer Complex in Grand Blanc and the Deer Run Soccer Complex in Linden. — B.G.
