Genesee District Library announces honorees for Black History Brunch

FLINT — The Genesee District Library (GDL) has announced the honorees for the 19th Annual Black History Month Brunch for Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. at the Genesys Conference & Banquet Center in Grand Blanc.

Each year the GDL honors people who are making a positive difference in the community. The Award of Excellence will be presented to Melinda Anderson, Recco Richardson and former Mayor Karen Weaver. The Partner in Progress Award will go to Ivy House, which serves the economically disadvantaged in the areas of education, health, family and civic responsibility.

The brunch will feature gospel singer and Stellar Award Winner Casey J from Atlanta, Georgia.

Part of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Genesee District Library’s Summer Reading Challenge for kids and teens.
