Genesee Health Plan to host sixth annual drive-thru immunization event

FLINT — Genesee Health Plan (GHP) announced today it will host its sixth annual Genesee Health Plan Drive-Thru Flu and Immunization event on Oct. 11 from 3-6 p.m.

The event will take place at Genesee Health Plan’s office located at 2171 S. Linden Road, Flint.

“The Drive-Thru Flu and Immunization event is a unique and convenient way for Genesee County residents to receive their flu shot to protect themselves and their family during flu season. Attendees can drive through one of our garage service bays, roll down their window and roll up their sleeve to receive their flu shot,” said GHP President and CEO Jim Milanowski. “Our event has grown tremendously over the past six years because of its convenience and accessibility. We see many families who drive in to receive their flu shots together.”

Attendees can drive through one of GHP’s garage service bays or go inside GHP’s office for their flu shots. Flu, Tdap, HPV and Pneumonia vaccines are available inside GHP’s office in addition to blood pressure checks, Body Mass Index (BMI) screenings and women’s health resources. Information on health care resources and enrollment for health care coverage will also be available. Flu shots and vaccines are provided by the Genesee County Health Department and Walgreens. New this year, GHP will offer a water giveaway for Flint residents.

If residents are unable to attend, they can obtain a flu shot from their doctor, health centers and clinics or at pharmacies throughout Genesee County. Flu shots and other immunizations are covered by the Genesee Health Plan, Healthy Michigan Plan (Medicaid) and the Michigan Health Insurance Marketplace (ACA).
