FLINT — For those who don’t think they have time for a flu vaccination this year, Genesee Health Plan is offering a quick, convenient and FREE opportunity on Oct. 16, from 3-6 p.m.
Area residents can stay healthy during the winter months by getting their free flu shot at the Genesee Health Plan Drive- Thru Immunization Event at Genesee Health Plan, 2171 S. Linden Road, Flint.
Participants can drive through one of the heated drive-in service bays for their flu shot or go inside the Genesee Health Plan office. The flu shot will be free for people with no insurance. Those with insurance will need to provide insurance information but will have no out of pocket costs.
Information and education on health and blood pressure screenings will also be offered, including information on the importance of adult immunizations. At the event, participants can speak with a health navigator to sign up for Genesee Health Plan coverage or other plans, depending on eligibility.
GHP will also distribute bottled water at the event to Flint residents with proof of residency in the city.
The Genesee County Immunization Drive is a project of the Genesee County Health Department, Genesee Health Plan and National Influenza Vaccination Disparities Partnership. These partners have collaborated to emphasize the importance of adults being immunized and receiving their flu shot through the month of October and beyond.
If residents are not able to attend this event, they can obtain a flu vaccination from their physician, during an upcoming immunization event, or at a number of health centers and pharmacies throughout Genesee County.
