GRAND BLANC TWP. — The new Genesys Gynecologic Oncology Surgical Services program, launched last week, will offer patients comprehensive diagnosis, treatment and management of gynecologic oncology diseases.
Genesys, in partnership with surgeons from Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, chose to offer the service in Genesee County so patients could receive this “highly specialized and needed care in their neighborhood,” reports Marc Lewis, MD, medical director of Women and Children’s Services for Genesys.
“We are filling a medical need that has not been offered previously in this area, and one that truly is needed to ensure patients receive seamless care close to home.” The service will feature Rabbie Hanna, MD; along with Nabila Rasool, MD; gynecologic oncologists from Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, who recently joined the Genesys Gynecologic Oncology Surgical Services team, and initially will see patients at Genesys two days a month. As volumes increase, so will hours of service. They are available for consultations 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The physicians will treat women with tumors of the ovary, cervix, uterus, vulva and vagina, including laparoscopic and robotic surgical management. Hanna completed his obstetrics/ gynecology residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, followed by his fellowship training in gynecologic oncology at the University of North Carolina/Chapel Hill. He is board certified in obstetrics/ gynecology and gynecologic oncology.
Rasool completed her residency in obstetrics/ gynecology at University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor, followed by her fellowship training in gynecologic oncology at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
Patients will be seen at the Genesys Regional Medical Center’s Health Park campus in Grand Blanc Township. They now are accepting patient referrals at 810-606-7629. — P.S.
