FLUSHING — Do you live in the Volunteer Spirit? Do you like giving back to your community? Then we have just the organization for you. GFWC Flushing Women’s Club has been involved in the community since 1966. We provide support to community, county and international charitable groups such as Flushing Christian Outreach, Restoration Place, the USO, and this year, the Thomas Smith Memorial Foundation – just to name a few.
Over the past two years, we have gained 14 new members. With each new volunteer who joins our group, we grow stronger as a result of their ideas, input and creativity; and this allows us to accomplish even more.
As part of our annual October Membership Drive, GFWC Flushing Women’s Club will be hosting two Meet and Greet events. Our first gathering will be held on Oct. 10, at The Elbow Room, located at 131 E. Main Street, in Flushing. Members will be available from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to provide information and answer any questions about our activities, community projects and helping others, with the heart of a volunteer.
On Oct. 18, the Club will host another get-together at Kathy’s 126 Restaurant-N-Lounge at 126 E. Main Street, Flushing, in the lounge area, also from 6 to 7:30 p.m. A prize drawing will be held at each event. All ages are welcome, you are never too young or too old to make a difference. We’re a lot of fun. Bring a friend! Please contact Pamela Anderson at 818-470-3735 if you have any questions.
