GHOST task force arrests Saginaw man in sting operation

GENESEE COUNTY — A Saginaw man is behind bars after he allegedly attempted to meet up with a minor for sex in Genesee County.

Thomas Dean Trinklein, 34, was arrested in a sting operation conducted by the Genesee Human Oppression Strike Team (GHOST) on June 23. According to police, Trinklein drove to a hotel in rural Genesee County with the intention of meeting a “14-year-old girl” he had chatted with online and spoken to over the phone.

The “minor” Trinklein had solicited, however, was portrayed by Captain Karianne Nelson, an undercover police officer with the GHOST team.

When Trinklein arrived at the hotel, he was apprehended by officers with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office.

Phone forensics revealed that Trinklein had over 700 images and videos of child pornography on his phone and over 400 online engagements with prostitutes of all ages.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton has brought 16 charges against Trinklein, including multiple counts of possessing child sexually abusive material and accosting a child for immoral purposes.

Trinklein is also facing one count for resisting arresting. He was arraigned on all charges on July 1. — B.G.
