GHP/Sovita Credit Union presents scholarships to essay winners

FLINT TWP. — On Aug. 11, Genesee Health Plan presented scholarship checks to the winners of its Health Care Career Scholarship Contest.

Joslynn Ridley of Goodrich High School and Breanna Trecha of Fenton High School were the top senior finalists in this year’s contest. Ridley and Trecha each received $1,500 for submitting essays about their family health histories, the health careers they plan to pursue, the importance of good health and the impact they hope to make in their respective fields.

Ridley will attend the University of Michigan-Flint to become a doctor specializing in pediatric rheumatology or a physician assistant. Trecha will attend the University of Toledo to pursue a career in pharmaceutical science research.

The Health Care Career Scholarship Contest was part of Genesee Health Plan’s Fifth Annual Health Heritage Essay and Scholarship Contests sponsored by Sovita Credit Union. — B.G.
