Girls win sixth straight in basketball

FLINT – The Carman-Ainsworth girls’ basketball team took down Goodrich 66-57 at the annual Steve Schmidt Roundball Classic at Mott Community College on Saturday for its sixth-straight win.

Carman-Ainsworth led 16-14 after the first quarter, but Goodrich outscored the Cavaliers 19-14 in the second to lead 33-30 at halftime. The Cavaliers then edged out Goodrich 17-11 in the third quarter to go ahead 47-44 heading into the final frame. Carman- Ainsworth then put the game away with 19-13 run.

Aaliyah McQueen led the Cavaliers with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Chenelle King also put up 20 points and pulled down five boards.

Carman-Ainsworth, 6-0, hosts Saginaw Heritage on January 7.
