GENESEE COUNTY — Genesee Intermediate School District Superintendent Dr. Lisa Hagel was recognized at the Michigan Association of School Nurses (MASN) Annual Conference for making a statewide contribution that impacts the health and education of Michigan school children.
Hagel’s nomination and approval for this award was unanimous by the MASN Board of Directors. Evilia Jankowski, Coordinator of School Health Services for the Center for Countywide Programs and President of MASN, said Hagel demonstrates a commitment to addressing the health needs of the students in our county and across the state. “Dr. Hagel is the first to support nursing services and addition of these services when the need arises. She sees the value of professional development for our nurses, including the joint orientation of new nurses in Genesee County as a result of the Flint water crisis response and recovery,” said Jankowski.
The MASN mission is to be proactive in issues that affect the health of children, to promote optimal learning in the educational setting, and to advance the practice of professional school nurses. — G.G.
