Gist hired as new DPW supervisor

DAVISON — The city council approved hiring Brian Gist as the new Davison Department of Public Works supervisor at its Oct. 25 meeting.

The city’s personnel committee recently completed negotiations with Gist and both parties agreed on a salary of $70,000 per year. A 17-year-employee of the DPW, Gist will also see his multiplier increased with the city’s retirement program.

Gist, who has been doing the job of supervisor on an interim basis since former Supervisor Ed Brown retired in July, will stop receiving an additional stipend for doing the interim job on Oct. 31 and his new position and salary will be effective Nov. 1.

The vote to hire Gist was 6-0, with Councilwoman Jamie Stebbins absent. — G.G.
