FLINT TWP. — “Join Hands Day,’’ a Flint Township Park clean-up and beautification project, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on May 7 at the park pavilion, on Norko and Fleckenstein drives.
Sponsored by The Gleaner, Greater Flint Area Arbor and the Flint Township Park Commission, the third annual event will include help from the 4-H Club and the Youth Group of Faith Missionary Church of Flint. The public is invited to come and help.
Peter Mikelens, a Gleaner spokesperson, said the non-profit fraternal organization has designated $2,000 for the improvement project.
The event will begin with coffee and Donna’s Donuts and conclude with a pizza lunch.
Work projects will include cleaning flowerbeds and replanting annuals, adding annuals and perennials, removing invasive species, mulching pathways and the natural walk, Mikelens said.
Participants are asked to bring gloves and hand tools such as shovels, rakes, loppers and saws.
